Who We Are ?
The New Owendo International Port started its operations in June 2017 and held its great opening in October 2017. This area of transit of 18 hectares dedicated to the traffic of containers and general cargo has been completed in a record time of 18 months. With a capacity of 3 million tons per year, the terminal should allow to extend port capacity and will accelerate traffic inside the port and increase the import/export activities competitiveness of Gabon.
With a 690 meters quay, the terminal will be able to serve, at the same time, two large Panamax type vessels with the contribution of new handling techniques and equipment such as harbor cranes and rubber tired gantry cranes. Gabon Special Economic Zone Ports S.A has invested 181 billion CFA francs (nearly 330 million US dollars), to build this modern facility.
Overall stevedoring costs are 25% below average costs in Gabon. The new alternative logistic solution will directly and positively affect the prices of goods imported in Gabon. The impact on cost of living for Gabonese people will be more than significant.
